Great experience every time! The rangers and workers there are always friendly and helpful. Many things to do, fishing, canoeing, hiking, mountain bike trails, etc....
400 acres of riparian wonderland. You get the feel of how important water is in the desert and can climb a high trail where it's rocky and dry and nail the perspective. Water = life and the Verde Greenway at Dead Horse is an excellent example. Good RV and camp facilities abound. I lived here in 1973 when my friend Chip's family owned the ranch. It's nice how the state park system kept it in perfect shape and improved it at that.
Beautiful park, you have to pay $7 per vehicle to get in for the day so it is well maintained. 3 diffrent lakes for fishing, the lakes are stocked. Lots n of walking/hiking trails. They also have plenty of campsites for rv's or for tents. The park also offers season passes.
On the Verde River, several lagoons for the fishers. Nice clean restrooms, good for a picnic and hike. Campground looked very nice. I'll be back with the trailer sometime.
We love this park! There are lots of nice walking paths. Bring your dogs. Rent horses for weekend riding! Such a great resource.
